Discover the top ten universities in the world, according to the magazine US News & World Report's 2022 international ranking.

According to the US News & World Report ranking, the United States is home to four of the best universities in the world that are considered the best to study next year.

In the most recent exercise by the world authority on education rankings, more than 1,700 schools were evaluated in academic research and reputation, compared to nearly 1,500 last year.

Harvard University is ranked first, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, and the University of California-Berkeley, which are ranked second, third, and fourth, respectively. The University of Oxford in the United Kingdom rounds out the top five.

 

Here are the top ten best global universities, as determined by a survey of more than 90 countries:

 1.Harvard University (United States). It is the oldest institution of higher learning in the United States and is a private university located on the outskirts of Boston (Massachusetts).

It provides careers in bioengineering, environmental engineering, industrial engineering, electrical engineering, and computer engineering.

2.  2.  Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) (EU). It is a mixed and private research university that was founded in 1861 with the goal of promoting knowledge and educating students in science, technology, and other fields.

 

3. 3. Stanford University is number three (EU). It was founded in 1885 by Jane and Leland Stanford to "promote the public welfare by exerting an influence on behalf of humanity and civilization" and is located in the heart of Silicon Valley.

 

This institution is credited with the first successful heart and lung transplant as well as the introduction of the computer mouse.

4. 4. Berkeley, University of California (EU). With over 350 degree programs to choose from and faculty who are consistent leaders in their fields, Berkeley fosters a rigorous academic environment.

 

This university is made up of the School of Optometry, the School of Journalism, the highly regarded Haas School of Business, and the Graduate School of Education.

 

5. 5. Oxford University is number five (UK). It provides over 1,000 higher education programs each year, including virtual classes, short courses, undergraduate, graduate, and continuing professional development courses.

 

The University of Oxford has over 100 departments and faculties, all of which are overseen by four academic divisions: Medical Sciences, Mathematics, Physics and Life Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences.

It was founded in 1890 and now offers degrees, master's degrees, and doctorates in over 200 different fields of study.

8. 8.  Cambridge University is ranked eighth (UK). It is in the English-speaking part of the United Kingdom.

 

Cambridge University was founded in 1209 by academics who fled Oxford following a brawl with agents from that city, according to legend. Leading scientists, writers, and politicians from the United Kingdom have all received their education here.

 

9. California Institute of Technology (European Union) (tie). It is a research and education institution for science and engineering in Pasadena, California.

 

It has the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (owned by NASA), the Caltech Seismological Laboratory, and the International Network of Observatories among its facilities.

110. Johns Hopkins University (European Union) (tie). It was established in 1876 and was the country's first research university.

 

On its main campus in Baltimore, the Homewood campus, it offers graduate and undergraduate programs. Furthermore, the university has campuses in Montgomery, Washington, Bologna, Italy, and Nanking, China (China).

 

How was the ranking determined?

"These rankings differ from our other education rankings in that they place a greater emphasis on academic research."

"The Best Global Universities feature an overall ranking of more than 1,700 universities, as well as subject rankings from 255 additional universities, for a total of 2,005 schools, providing even more information for prospective students interested in schools where research is the top priority," explained Robert Morse, US News' chief data strategist.

Five new subjects were added for this new classification, bringing the total to 43. Chemistry, physics, food science and technology, optics, physics, condensed matter, and polymer science are among the new subjects.
